Black Tech Matters is an organization created by Sara Qawwas in June of 2020. So far it consists of a team of Android, iOS, Web, and back-end developers, as well as Database Admins and UI/UX designers (36 currently). This team provides pro-bono software development services for black-owned businesses that need help with their apps and websites during these trying times.
In Sara's words (via LinkedIn) "I have been struggling to find more ways to help these days. Starting with the pandemic and of course with the most recent issues. I've donated and it felt a little empty and I wanted to do more. So I sent out a blast message to my coworkers hoping to enlist them in something making sure to let the company know I will not do this as a representative of the company. I figured I would send the same here and maybe gather more people for this. One of the things I would like to point out is that we would also help these businesses work toward becoming ADA Compliant so that more users can reach them."
That is what Black Tech Matters is all about, and I was excited/happy to join and offer my design services. You can visit the website www.blacktechmatters.org (currently in development as the clients needs are more important) to find out more in the near future!
If you are looking to request help for your business/organization you can email sara.qawwas@blacktechmatters.org
